Handling Unplanned Minutes Of Rain
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. -Hebrews 10:24 NIV
I remember many mornings trying to get out the door dragging two children and my school paraphernalia. Some days it was a deluge of mishaps and other mornings it was only a drizzle. Nonetheless, Satan used these mishaps to get me in a dither and then, late to work. Anyone relating?
As a result, it seemed as if nothing went right all day. I allowed Satan to win because I made a choice to stay in a driving rain instead of asking the Lord to guide my day, to help me regroup and intentionally seek His face. My children are now thirty-four and thirty and Satan still uses these tactics to get me in a dither and my eyes off the Lord. Satan knows where I’m vulnerable. Whether it be a deluge or a drizzle, I have to be intentional to not let Satan rain on God’s blessings for my day. Finding humor in the mishaps helps me shift my thoughts for the Bible says in Proverbs, “laughter is good like a medicine.”
I’m wondering if you’ve chosen a word for the year? My word for 2021 is “intentional.” It was also my word for 2020. Last year I was “intentionally“ seeking ways God wanted me to serve Him with my writing. This year, I am being “intentional” to follow God’s call in my writing. i.e. launching this website; intentional to share my story. While researching “intentional” in my concordance, I did not find the actual word to be in scripture. I found synonyms such as deliberate, consider, conscious, voluntary, etc.
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15
Today, may we be in the Father’s circle of love rather than the circle of rain. Deliberately, seeking your face, Lord Jesus!
Until Next Time:
1. Maybe you chose a word for the year to guide your growth in the Lord. If not, choose a word. Find the meaning of your word. i.e. Webster’s Dictionary, etc.
2. Look in the concordance of your Bible for your word or synonyms of your word. (In the back of your Bible.)
3. Read the scriptures containing your word. Write them on notecards, sticky notes, etc. Begin today applying those verses and your word of the year to your daily routine. Record the impact, the changes, the hassles, etc. Please comment below!
Good reminder on humor. Thanks, Judy!
