Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. – James 1:12
We have Opening Day at our church for the 2021 baseball season this Saturday! Excitement is at an all-time high as there were no games played in 2020. Everyone seems to be ready to “play ball!” As I watched the T-Ball crowd practice, I was reminded of the time our daughter passed the runner in front of her as she completed her home run. When the umpire called her OUT, she was not happy. Sometimes, life occurrences can have us seemingly OUT of the game and left unhappy.
When standing at home plate, we are imperfect beings made by God, in His image, to do His will. God uses us swinging the bat to make contact with the ball and safely arrive at first base 1) to produce staying power or endurance as we stand the tests life brings. As the next batter makes contact with the ball, we are on our way to second base 2) where God provides wisdom for those who seek His face and call upon His name. All the while, another batter hits and we’re on our way to third base. 3) All believers, rejoice over your position in life regardless of the trials that may come and as another batter swings we are off to home plate, 4) where God promises a reward to fill us as believers with Hope.
Our days, weeks, months and years on this earth, our lives, are to bring Glory to the Lord God Almighty. We must read and study God’s Word for us to be more like Him. As we move from one base to another in our everyday lives, may we spread the HOPE that only comes through knowing Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. Do you know Him? If not, ask Him to meet you at home plate.
Until We Meet Again
1. Is God wanting you to be encouraged and increase your endurance in a situation?
2. Where do you need to seek the Lord’s face and His wisdom in place of your own?
3. Rejoice in the Lord for your position in life today; right now. Ask Him to fill you with Hope that only He can supply.
