So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. I Corinthians 10:31
A few years back, my family made a reservation to take a cooking class to celebrate my birthday. We all went. We all mixed and diced and baked and my favorite part, we tasted. Then, we ate! It was one of the most fun things we’ve ever done together! Fruity desserts are not usually my favorite; however, the tart in these pictures was divine. Chocolate is my preferred sweet and that was covered as well.
The chef began her class by putting us in groups of three. There were five of us. As the groups counted off, there was one lady by herself. My daughter and I asked her to come with us and she readily accepted. This caught me by surprise because she had never seen us before. But, as the morning class began, we soon made a fast friend while learning she went to cooking classes to escape her home life. Let me clarify. Her husband was some big executive and she was a stay-at-home mom. He was only home on Sunday and that was his day with the kiddos. She went to cooking classes and this is the best part…she never cooked for him! Cooking classes were her outlet for herself.
While this adventure was super fun, it’s hard to wrap my head around this being my only outlet. Reflecting on this experience, I am humbled to think of all the people in this world who just need someone to talk with; to listen to them; to accept them for who they are immediately. The most humbling thing is that my family does this every single day. And, as children of the King, we have the best friend, King Jesus.
I do not remember our new friend’s name, but I do remember her genuine smiles and hugs as
she was part of our family that day. The blessing was ours for we gave her a taste of our family
as well as the family of God.
Until We Meet Again
1. On this Memorial Day Weekend, whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
2. Whether you share your food or drink with family, a stranger, both, or none of the above,
thank Him for the men who died for our freedom to worship Him.
3. Pray for our country that we might truly be ‘one nation under God.’ And, take someone in today.
