Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Ps 34:8

Growing up in the 60’s was quite different from today. As I recall those days, they weren’t really that different and here’s why. My mother and daddy taught me God made each one of us special and unique by His design. I was taught to love the Lord my God with all my heart, my mind, my soul and my strength. I was taught to love my neighbor as myself. I was taught that there is no greater love than a man who lays down his life for his friends. I was taught a friend sticks closer than a brother. I was taught Jesus is my refuge and my strength, my help in times of trouble. I was taught to trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding in all my ways to acknowledge Him and He will direct my path. I was taught that they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. I was taught that vengeance is the Lord’s; not mans. I was taught that when the valley is deep and when the mountain is steep to press on in Jesus’ name. I was taught every valley shall be exalted and every mountain made low and the crooked made straight and the rough places plain and all flesh shall see it together. For the glory of the Lord shall be revealed for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it! I was taught if I have it and you need it, it’s yours.

I could go on but I think you’re getting the idea. Are we teaching the Word of God as fact and not as a last resort to get what we want.? Yes, not what we need but what we want. Are we reading and trying to live by God’s Word because He tells us to? Is His Word a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path? I pray so. Without Him we can do nothing. With Him, ALL things are possible. Without Him, how lost I would be.

Last week I visited with a friend from my home church I had not seen in over 42 years! We picked up right where we left off when I played for her wedding 42 ½ years ago. You see, we were Sunday School Girls. We’re not perfect and never will be. We were taught a fear of the Lord and the importance of obeying His Word that is not emphasized today as it was then by society. But here is the only difference: God’s Word; His precepts and principles have not changed. Man’s reverence of and obedience to the Word has changed. Just as the Israelites ate the manna from God laced with honey, they were not hungry or satisfied. They wanted something else. We have been through the Covid pandemic and we want to be protected. Yet,  we don’t want to wear mask or get vaccinated to stop the virus from spreading again in epic proportions. My sister in Christ, we are a continuously seeking people. Not always seeking what God would have for us or being thankful for what he sends. But seeking worldly things that will not supply our eternal needs according to the riches we have in Christ Jesus. As our scripture says, get to know Him, taste His mercy and His grace. Taste and see that He is good for His mercies are new each morning. Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.

So, I’m wondering, what are we teaching our children? Are we teaching them God’s Word and the power that is available through the resurrection power of Jesus? We serve an awesome, amazing God. His word tells us He will come like a thief in the night to heal and destroy. Are you ready? Will you be ready when Jesus comes again?

Until We Meet Again

  1. During this Pandemic, 2021, what do you fear? Who do you fear? Why do you fear?

2.  Why should you not fear?

  1. He will never leave us or forsake us. Does He know you want to be counted in that number? Are you living as if it were today? If not, then ask Him to come into your heart, today. Right now. You cannot buy His mercy, His love nor His grace. You can accept them through the blood He shed for you and me at Calvary. The cross He bore paid the difference. Are you willing to follow the difference today? Ask Him to come into your heart. Love Him beginning TODAY and live expectantly for His return!

  1. Be a Sunday School Girl in 2021! Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.

-Psalm 34:8.
