Under His Wing

Under His Wing

…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

To answer God’s call for our lives usually requires an act of faith. In my life, it’s more of a leap of faith. It seems as if nothing works out the first time and I find myself asking Him, “Is this where you want me?” By unexpected means, I see His hand in the circumstances I have encountered. It is my duty to fix my eyes on Him (Hebrews 12:2) and go forth in obedience to do
His will for my life, much like Ruth. Ruth found herself a young widow feeling responsible for her mother-in-law, Naomi. After many attempts by Naomi to convince Ruth to return
to her Moabite family, Naomi finally understood Ruth genuinely wanted to take Naomi home to Israel. Ruth vowed to care for Naomi until death parted them.

Ruth had to have been nervous and having second thoughts about leaving her homeland in Moab to follow her mother-in-law to Israel; a land and culture she knew nothing of. Scripture does not speak of her thoughts or feelings about going with Naomi other than her commitment until Ruth 2:12.
May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

The last part of v. 12 shares Ruth’s trust in the Lord by saying, “…under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

Ruth’s story does not stop here. If it’s okay with you I’d like for us to stop here a minute. I don’t know about you; but, things have been all off for me lately. It seems the harder I listen for the Holy Spirit’s voice the harder it is for me to hear Him speaking. He hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s me whose been thinking about Covid-19, vaccinations, boosters, and the list goes on and on. This pandemic is not even close to being over. In some ways we know more and yet in other ways we know less. One thing is for sure: Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Until Next Time:
1.Take time to go outside and bask in the Lord’s presence. Thank Him for He cares for you.

2.Is God asking you to follow Him as Ruth did? Explain.

3.What is God asking you to fix your eyes on to serve Him as faithfully as Ruth? Is there a family member you need to take care of?
